The HLA Group provided landscape architecture and planning services to Yuba City, in conjunction with SACOG, for the Defining the Urban-Rural Edge Project. The project consists of developing design guidelines that will help the City guide growth at its outer perimeter. The purpose of the design guidelines is to address and inform the physical characteristics of this perimeter buffer space as an amenity to the adjacent development, and as an acceptable means to keep adjacent agricultural uses viable. The design guidelines seek to create a pedestrian/bicycle network; minimize physical and visual nuisances; institute environmentally sustainable practices; and culturally connect residents to the environment.
