The HLA Group worked closely with the client to develop the overall project theme of “Santa Barbara Spanish” for this 300+ acre, nine village community of merchant builder and custom home lots nestled amongst groves of existing oak trees. Services included the design of the main gated entry with pilasters and guardhouse, large detention pond, streetscapes, open space corridors and mitigation areas. This project showcases a high-level of design through the use of colorful mosaic tiles, custom metalwork, Spanish topped pilasters and textured stucco walls. This theme was further reinforced through the selection of plant material including groundcover roses, olive and cypress trees, fan palms, agave and formal boxwood hedges. Additionally, we have provided support to the community HOA in updating the original design guidelines (by others) as well as the on-going review of homeowner landscape plan submittals.
