Best Public Project — Sacramento Business Journal (2009)
This design-build, LEED-Gold Certified student housing project houses up to 606 undergraduate, transfer, international, and graduate student residents and is located within two buildings with a large landscaped outdoor courtyard. The courtyard was designed to provide a variety of seating arrangements, encourage social interaction, and support various programmatic opportunities and events. The project features retail space, common study areas, a multi-purpose room, kitchens, and laundry facilities. Careful attention was given to preserve and protect the existing plaza space, turf areas, and trees located adjacent to the project site, which provides a sense of "borrowed scenery." Attention was given to the circulation of both pedestrians and cyclists with bike parking located along the main pathways providing convenient access and storage. The project was voted ‘Best On-campus Housing’ in The State Hornet’s Best of Sac State poll.
