This multi-modal transit facility is located adjacent to the Pittsburg Center BART station at the intersection of the State Route 4 and Railroad Avenue. The facility provides a safe, efficient and accessible transportation connection that embraces multi-modal users and includes public space improvements that support place-making and create a gateway to the downtown Pittsburg development area. A main plaza at the corner of Railroad and California Avenues features an iconic vertical monument sign with digital community message board. Sidewalks adjacent to California Avenue are enlarged to make a promenade equipped with bike lockers, bike repair station, seating areas, raised plaza area with an informal event space, and opportunities for public art. The parking lot includes 14 parking spaces, ride-share waiting areas, and bus shelters. Class 1 bike trails leading to and from the facility are included to complete existing gaps in the bicycle trail network. Stormwater infiltration swales within planting areas capture stormwater runoff. The facility creates a vibrant and active space for both pedestrians and transit patrons to enjoy.
