The 240-acre Sacramento Railyards development represents one of the largest redevelopment projects in the Western United States. Infrastructure improvements, place-making features, and multi-modal connectivity, and access to public transportation represented key objectives for the initial phases of development. The HLA Group created the landscape design guidelines and project improvements to achieve these goals. Water retention basins collect and filter stormwater runoff for streets and sidewalks. Iconic monumentation and decorative benches, tree grates, bike racks, and site furnishings create a unique identity. Artistic bridge overpass structures and enhancements further emphasize the modern design aesthetic.
